Why Fraxel Laser?

The Fraxel laser system works to correct a variety of skin imperfections, including acne, fine lines and wrinkles, signs of photoaging, stretch marks and scars. The Fraxel laser has such a wide range of capabilities that it can provide different levels of treatments and meet various individual needs.

Fraxel is considered the next generation of laser-based treatments. It uses advanced technology to deliver safe, effective and bespoke non-surgical treatments and is fully equipped to offer a full portfolio of solutions.

Treating your skin concerns

  • Skin resurfacing
  • Wrinkle treatment
  • Pore reduction
  • Acne treatment
  • Scar reduction
  • Improving stretch marks

How does Fraxel work?

The Fraxel laser system uses a fractional laser technology to deliver energy deep into the skin, stimulating the generation of new skin cells and collagen. This reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, breaks down scar tissue, and targets stretch mark discolouration and texture.

Your Questions Answered

What happens during the treatment?

Depending on your pain threshold and the type of treatment, topical anaesthetic may be applied 10- 30 minutes prior to treatment. Your doctor will then place a handheld device with a smooth glass surface that pulses the laser onto your skin, moving the device over the treatment area. When your treatment is finished a cold compress can be applied to ease any discomfort.

Does it hurt?

Each pulse of the laser causes a snapping sensation that can be compared to the snapping of a rubber band. The device has a built in cooling system is highly effective at providing additional comfort.

When will I see results?

Results depend on the type of treatment being carried out, but you will generally notice an improvement in both texture and tone of the skin 2 to 3 weeks after the first treatment. After three or more consecutive treatments, there will be further improvement.

How many treatments will I need?

For optimal results, a series of 3 to 5 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart is recommended. You may also wish to incorporate a treatment touch-up treatment every 6 months to maintain results.

What is the down time?

Immediately after your Fraxel laser treatment your skin will feel warm, red, and may be slightly swollen (similar to a sunburn). These effects usually resolve on their own within one to three days at most. Some mild bruising may also occur over particularly delicate areas, as well as crusting, scabbing and darkened patches. These reactions gradually subside within 1 to 2 weeks after treatment.

Is it safe?

This technology is FDA approved and one of the safest lasers available for aesthetic non-surgical treatments.
