Personalised Acne Management Plans
Acne is one of the most common skin concerns I see in the clinic. But no two cases are ever the same.
Many patients find themselves frustrated when breakouts persist despite their best efforts. This is where dedicated, personalised acne management becomes essential, and early intervention can make the world of difference.
As a consultant dermatologist my role is to look beyond the surface. Acne is influenced by multiple factors- genetics, hormones, lifestyle, and of course skincare choices. My in-depth, new-patient consultation allows me to identify underlying drivers for each individual and come up with an immediately actionable strategy. I am renowned for dealing with highly complex cases, so whether you are a middle-aged woman experiencing hormonal acne for the first time (about 20% of women between 25-39), or a parent wanting to help your child combat persistent cystic acne that just doesn’t seem to relent, rest assured I have options for every case.
Acne management is however a journey. Regular follow-ups allow us to adjust treatments as the skin responds, minimising side effects and optimising results. It may be that we initially opt for an oral medication ahead of in-clinic treatments, so these must be monitored with monthly or 3-monthly reviews to guarantee efficacy and safety at the highest level.
From there we can look at introducing cutting edge treatments such as lasers or peels to combat PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) or acne scarring. By combining medical expertise with an individualised approach, I surpass trial-and-error and get patients directly to confidence- with a clear, healthier complexion.
If you are struggling with acne, know that effective, personalised solutions are available- and you don’t have to face it alone.

Hello,
I’m contacting you regarding my acne, which has been quite difficult to manage recently. I mainly get painful and itchy spots around my chin and jawline, and some of them can become quite large and inflamed.
I was previously prescribed lymecycline by my GP. It worked well initially and my skin improved, but after around 4 months it stopped working and the acne started coming back.
I was then prescribed doxycycline, but unfortunately my skin became much worse after starting it, with much larger breakouts and more inflammation.
I’m now hoping to get my skin reassessed and discuss whether there are other medication or treatment options I could try, as the acne is becoming quite uncomfortable and is affecting my skin. I would also like to know if there could be another underlying reason for the acne, and whether a different type of treatment
Thank you.
