What Happens at Your First Dermatologist Appointment
Whether you're dealing with acne, eczema, hair loss, or just want a skin check, your visit will likely be easier- and more informative- than you think. Something important and perhaps different to note about our approach is that Dr Ophelia will always be the one to consult, treat and closely monitor you throughout your entire experience at the clinic.
Dr Ophelia cares deeply about getting to know patients on a personal level, to ensure optimum care for as long as you are a client at the clinic. This means your care remains directly under her, at all times.
Your initial visit starts with a comprehensive consultation. Dr Ophelia may ask about your medical history, current skin concerns, lifestyle factors, and any skincare products you're using. It’s helpful to bring a list (a mental list is fine too!) of medications, previous treatments and your current skincare routine.
Next, Dr Ophelia will examine your skin and/or hair based on what you are coming in for and this will allow her to make an initial diagnosis.
Depending on your concerns and this examination, she may recommend a biopsy, send you for a specific blood test or prescribe medication. She may also recommend changes to your skin and/or hair care routine (a combination of drugstore, higher-end and also her own range of bespoke, prescription products.) Finally, there will be the possibility of in-clinic treatments thanks to the broad range of innovative laser machines Dr Ophelia has invested in. All of this information will be clearly explained in your own clinic letter, which you will receive the following day from your visit.
Crucially, this appointment is a chance to ask all the questions you may have and to understand your own skin and hair better, empowering you to make the right choices for your best hair and skin yet. From diagnosis to personalised treatment, your first visit sets the foundation for long-term skin health.
Tip: Please arrive with clean skin, avoid makeup if possible, and don’t be afraid to speak up about your concerns!
